Skin Benefits of Oats

Oats are full of fiber and just one cup contains more than 10 grams of protein. This keeps you feeling full and reduces snacking. Savory or sweet oats are the right way to start your day. Though Oats are a nutritional powerhouse, they can also be applied topically for many DIY treatments.

Oatmeal does not only kick start your day as a mouthwatering, healthy breakfast, it has a lot to offer your skin as well. The grainy texture of oats makes it a wonderful natural scrub. Scrubbing alone is a solution to multiple skin problems. From oily skin, blackheads pimple, oatmeal packs can cure it all.



Skin Benefits Of Oats:

1. Treatment of Acne:

Cooked oatmeal is a great natural remedy for treating acne.Boil some oatmeal till it softens and let it cool for 15 minutes. Apply it on the affected area and rinse off after 10 minutes.This will absorb and remove excess oil and bacteria from your skin and exfoliate dead skin cells, thus helping to combat acne.

2.Removes Dryness:

Oats are effective in fighting dull, flaky dryness as they contain polysaccharides, which become gelatinous in water. They form a fine protective film when applied on skin.The cereal is effective in addressing dry skin symptoms like itching, rashes, scales, peeling etc.

To get rid of dryness you can make a facial mask by mixing a mashed banana with a cup of ground oatmeal and adding some lukewarm milk. Stir it properly to make it smooth and apply it all over your face for 10-15 minutes.Rinse off with cold water. This will help in replenishing the skin moisture, keeping it soft and hydrated.

3.Skin Moisturizer:

It acts as a natural moisturizer by removing the dead skin cells. It contains beta-glucan that forms a fine film on your skin as well as penetrates deep into the skin to provide much needed deep moisturizing to your skin.It enhances wound healing and shallow abrasions and improves collagen deposition and activation of immune cells within the skin.You can add a cup of milk, two cups of oats and a tablespoon of honey to moisturize your skin as well as relax your body.

4.Skin Lightening:

Oats are known for their skin lightening effects as well as improving the skin tone and texture and smoothing out blotchy areas.It is increasingly used in cosmetology in various skin care products such as body scrubs, soaps, exfoliating creams and general body lotions of reputed brands.

Oatmeal face pack with Milk:

3 tbsp Oatmeal Required quantity of Water or Milk

Procedure: Take 3 tbsp of half a cup of oatmeal and cook it in almost double the quantity of water (which means if you are taking ½ cup oatmeal take 1 cup of water). It is recommended that you use milk for better results, however if you do not want to use milk then you can replace it with water. Cook this mixture for about 10-15 mins till it gets nice and soft. Allow it to cool for 5 mins, while it’s still lukewarm apply the mixture all over your face and neck and leave it for 30 minutes. Then wash it with lukewarm water. This pack is extremely good for those who have oil skin. The pack can be used every single to attain quicker results.

Note: Do not use the pack while it’s still hot, doing so will only worsen the skin condition.

Oatmeal, lemon and almonds face pack:


Oatmeal Lemon Juice Almonds Procedure: Take all the ingredients and blend it into a fine paste by adding required quantity of water. Apply this pack on your face and neck and leave it to dry. Now dab a cotton bud in cold milk and very slowly wipe the pack with the cotton bud. Once you wipe out the pack wash your face with cold water. This pack helps attain smooth, silky, supple and flawless skin within days.
