The Basics Of Skin Care Routine – CTM

Hi ladies! Most of us know about CTM and what it stands for but very few of us actually follow all the steps one by one in the required order for the routine to benefit our skin. Here is a breakdown of each step and also why you should follow the complete CTM routine religiously. So you need a proper skin care regimen to tackle your skin woes. Here’s how?

  • Cleanse-

Cleansing is the step that is quite commonly followed by all women. Most of us cleanse our skin before going to bed or after getting back from work. This step involves the complete removal of all dirt, oil or makeup – foundation, blush, kohl, mascara, lipstick, everything! The key is to also focus on your problem areas like around the nose if you get breakouts or have a tendency to develop blackheads. For this purpose you can use any cleanser – you can choose a mild or a strong one.

My preferences :

All Skin Types –  Ayur Deep Pore Cleansing Milk, Lakme Deep Pore Cleanser ,                         Cetaphil , Clean and Clear face washes

Oily Skin – Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser , Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Face Wash ,                    Himalaya neem face wash

Go Natural – Mix raw milk and orange peel powder. Dip a cotton ball and apply it to               your skin. Massage it onto your skin for atleast 5 min and rinse off. You are done!

  • Tone –

Toning helps to maintain the pH balance of your skin. Toning is the step that most people miss out. Toning helps in reducing the pore size and remove any traces of cleanser left out. It has helps to get rid of dead skin cells that contribute to dullness. Hence toning clears the skin from within and at the same time it also reduces the possibility of breakouts and further blackheads from developing.

  My preferences :

Kama Ayurveda Pure Rose Water, Fabindia Rose water toner, Lotus Herbals Rose                      Tone Facial Skin Toner , Kiehl’s Clarity Activating Toner

Combination/Oily SkinThe Body Shop Tea Tree Toner, The Body Shop Seawood                  Toner, Fabindia Tea tree toner , Biotique Cucumber Water

My fav – Kama Ayurveda Pure Rose Water, Biotique Cucumber Water

Go Natural –Green tea has  anti oxidants. This works well as a toner especially for                  oily skin.To make a green tea toner at home: put 2 green tea bags in boiling water.                    Let this mixture cool down. Put it in a spray bottle and use it when required

Ice cube! Yes rubbing an ice cube all over your face would help to reduce the pore size

  • Moisturize –

Cleansing and toning leave the skin squeaky clean , bare  and the pores open, and so, especially in the drier months, skin tends to lose moisture. If you don’t properly moisturize your skin, it could look sallow and patchy and may even wrinkle faster. So a good moisturizer is crucial. Be absolutely sure to pick one that suits your skin. If you have dry skin, opt for a heavy moisturizer that is specially formulated for dry skin. If you have oily skin, look for an oil free moisturizer that hydrates your skin without making it greasy. Do NOT skip moisturizer even in the summer months. If it’s too hot, use a light moisturizer that doesn’t feel heavy on your skin.

My preferences :

Normal/ Dry Skin – FabIndia Vitamin E Moiturising Cream , Lotus Shea  Moist

Combination/ Oily skin –  Neturogena Oil free moisture for combination                                skin,Clean & Clear Skin Balancing Moisturizer, Lacto Calamine Skin balance oil                      control Nourishing Cream , FabIndia Vitamin E, Lotus Herbals Alphamoist Alpha                      Hydroxy Skin Renewal Oil free Moisturizer

Go Natural – Add few drops of olive oil to 1 tbsp milk. Add droplets of lemon juice to                 it and stir well. Apply this mixture directly on your face.

This moisturizer is extremely beneficial for all skin types as it very light on the skin                 and helpful in acne problem and blemishes.

  • Exfoliation –

Do not forget to exfoliate your skin once or twice a week. This should be done after cleansing and before toning. It helps to remove dead skin cells from the top layer of the skin.

My preferences :

Biotique Bio Papaya Revitalizing Tan-Removal Scrub ,

Fab India Neem Tulsi Face and Body Gel Scrub ,

Fabindia Charcoal Scrub

VLCC Pineapple & Papaya Gentle Exfoliating Scrub

Go Natural : Honey + Sugar Scrub , Olive oil + Sugar Scrub , Banana, Milk and Oats                Face scrub

Mash a banana and add raw milk and 2 tbsp of oats to it. Mix and stir well. Apply                    this to your face and neck. Scrub your skin in circular motions with your fingers for                five minutes. Wash off with normal water.

Remember, the CTM routine is an investment for your skin   Even if you are blessed with beautiful, blemish-free skin, put in a bit of effort starting today to ensure that your skin still looks fabulous years later. Your skin will thank you ?
